Day 10: The Grid

Tenebrae… the name perfectly fits the main feature of this sector… the darkness. The star density is low, distance between stars is around 30-40 ly, similar the one you can find crossing the Abyss while going to Beagle Point. Most of the systems are unexplored, this system is like the ideal playground for explorers. It’s far, about 42k ly from Sol, it’s about 2/3 the distance to Beagle Point, twice the distance to the galaxy core or Colonia. But each system is a new discovery. The Icarus marked the mapping grid border, it reminds me the USA.

It comes now the time for the Dedalus, I love this ship, it’s my short range explorer, a Cobra Mark III, 50 ly the jump range, equipped with a guardian booster, FSD, hangar bay, AFMU and a good pack of scanners, everything an explorer needs out in the black, it’s fast with a good jump range and very manouvrable, the best ship for sector exploration, the best ship to explore nearby sectors, in a 5000 ly radius from a base or a fleet carrier. The Deadlus mission is to map most of the systems inside the grid. As you can see from the picture, most of the stars are still invisible, it means not in the star map database, a virgin area. It will take some days, but will provide an amazing quantity of information about that 1000 x 500 ly of space. I already did find very interesting phenomena, lagrange clouds, rhizome pods, ice crystals, it’s amazing out there.
